Capital Programs and Space Management

Major areas of responsibility:

• Plan, coordinate and execute capital projects from new buildings to major renovations of existing buildings to deferred maintenance.

• Work with individual Scripps scientists, both new hires and existing, to plan renovations necessary to accommodate their research.

• Space management for Scripps, including analyses of utilization and working with the section heads, division chairs, business officers, and individual staff to ensure that space is used effectively and dealt with in a fair and equitable manner relative to Scripps Space Policy.

• Write special purpose proposals and letters to obtain funding for capital projects, including ships and buildings, to federal, state and private agencies for past Scripps Directors. These proposals require understanding the research, and synthesizing the goals of the research and facilities into a comprehensive whole.
