Public Education

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps provides a wide variety of educational courses in the marine sciences for students from primary grades to high school level. Aquarium exhibits include an outdoor tide pool, colorful marine life tanks, and hands-on displays about ocean sciences and Scripps research. The aquarium is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps hosts the Jeffrey B. Graham Perspectives on Ocean Sciences lecture series that provides a forum for Scripps scientists to give public presentations each month about their cutting-edge work.

The aquarium's outreach van, the Planet Earth Express, takes educational programs to schools and community events.
