FAQs

How do I find out if the Robert Paine Scripps Forum for Science, Society and the Environment (Scripps Seaside Forum) is available?

You can view our online calendar or contact SIO Venue Rentals Tel. (858) 534-5604 Email: scrippsvenues@sio.ucsd.edu

Are site visits available?

Yes, site visits can be scheduled by contacting SIO Venue Rentals. We will do our best to schedule a site visit that is convenient for you.

Do I have to share the Scripps Seaside Forum with another party?

It's possible that more than one event could be taking place while your event is in progress. Renting the entire complex will eliminate that possibility though.

How much time do I have for my event?

You will have eight (8) hours total. The eight (8) hours includes time for set-up, the actual event, and clean-up time. Events will end by 10:00pm. An additional hour may be purchased for $750.

What about music - either recorded or live?

Recorded or live music is fine and is generally contained inside the Forum's auditorium. Due to the close proximity to the residential area next door amplified music may only be played outside before 8 p.m. and may not exceed 75 decibels.  An event manager can discuss this with you.

Can you tell me about catering?

The campus has an approved caterers list that you can choose from; no outside food or beverages can be brought into the Scripps Seaside Forum. Caterers on the list can provide you a wide range of menus to choose from, at varying price levels to meet your budget.

What about alcohol?

Alcohol must be served through Guiseppe Fine Catering, our exclusive on-site beverage provider.  Please see bar menu (pdf) for additional information.
