SEAPLEX

SEAPLEX researchers deployed on a small boat collected marine debris on Aug. 15, 2009.

The Outreach

Members of the public will be able to follow SEAPLEX through its cruise website, blog, and Twitter. The SEAPLEX science crew will post daily updates and answer reader questions. After the cruise, SEAPLEX outreach materials will be integrated in a Google Earth Tour.

SEAPLEX will also develop curricula on oceanography, biology, and human impacts by collaborating with a high school sscience teacher. As part of the SEAPLEX science crew, the teacher will obtain hands-on experience. Afterwards, the teacher will work with graduate students to develop accurate, entertaining lesson plans that fulfill California educational requirements. The lesson plans will be posted on the SEAPLEX website as a free resource.
