March 29, 2012. CENS, in conjunction with ECOtopics and Clean Energy Principles, will be sponsoring the "Water: An Endangered Resource" program.

April 12-13, 2012.  Director Harnish will chair the Arctic Governance panel at the “Leadership for the Arctic” Conference, sponsored by the United States Coast Guard Academy and the Law of the Sea Institute at the University of California's Berkeley School of Law.

June 2-3, 2012. Director Harnish will share his expertise at TritonMUN, a collegiate level conference for high school students in Southern California, hosted by the Model United Nations at UCSD. Topics of discussion at the conference will concern issues relating to the impacts of environment and climate change on international security and commerce, and what the United Nations can do to address them.

March 28, 2012. Director Harnish spoke about climate change and national security at the 2012 Western Area Council Office Environmental Law Conference.

September 19-20, 2011. CENS, in conjunction with Thula Capital, hosts the Water, Climate & Finance: The New Intersection symposium at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

October 24th, 2011. Director Harnish hosts a briefing for the Commander, U.S. Pacific Command, Admiral Robert F. Willard.

October 21st 2011. Director Harnish gives a lecture on the environment and national security at Osher Life Long Learning Institute.

October 21st, 2011. Director Harnish speaks at an event hosted by the Young President Organization entitled "Reflections on the Arab Spring," in Orange County, CA.

July  25-26 2011. Director Harnish will be in Washington D.C. to address the Threat Reduction Advisory Committee.   

June 8, 2011. CENS hosts visit of three American Ambassadors, event organized by Qualcomm. 

May 11-12, 2011. Director Harnish is scheduled to speak as part of the Threat Reduction Advisory Committee about National Security and Public Threat Perception.  Washington, D.C.

April 29, 2011.  Dir. Harnish will speak at an event sponsored by "Operation Free" and the Truman National Security Project at the Center for Sustainable Energy, 8690 Balboa Ave., San Diego CA.

April 26, 2011.  Director Harnish will be participating at the Air Force National Security Scholars Conference.  University of Southern California, Los Angeles CA.

News Clip, May 13, 2010, San Diego Union-Tribune. Latin Americans Targeting Green Energy, "The Road to Cancun." A conclave of some of Latin America's leading energy officials that ended Wednesday in La Jolla was tinged with green, with a number of talks focusing on how the shift to renewable power could help their countries gain more energy independence and extend their power grids into poor neighborhoods and rural areas. Reno Harnish, director of the Center for Environment and National Security at UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography, said Latin America's shift to renewables "is a good niche that should present plenty of opportunities" to local companies.
