Cruise Description   MMS cruise 8   R/V SPROUL 12 - 15 Jan 1995

Goals:  This is a mooring ops cruise, focussed on the western end of the
        SBC array. Time and weather allowing we will tow the Doppler fish
        through the channel pattern, and occupy two CTD sections: SMIN - SMOF
        and ANMI

Dates:  0800 12 Jan 95 lv SD
        0800 16 Jan 95 return SD

Mooring ops: deploy ABMI, turnaround CAMP, PAIN; reset GOIN 
                As time allows ADCP transects and CTD sections

12 Jan  0800    Leave Marfac steam towards ABMI (240 nm=30 hours)

13 Jan  0900    Recover CAMP (subsurface mooring daylight only operation)
        1400    Deploy ABMI
        1500    Steam to PAIN
        1600    Deploy PAIN
        1700    Recover PAIN
        1800    Steam to CAMP
        2000    Deploy CAMP (subsurface)

14 Jan  0200    Begin SMIN - SMOF CTD transect
        0600    Begin SMOF - SMIN ADCP Transect
        0800    At SMIN tow towards ROIN
        1000    At ROIN tow towards ROOF
        1300    At ROOF tow towards GOOF
        1500    At GOOF tow towards GOIN
        1700    GOIN recover fish, deploy GOIN
        1800    CTD transect towards GOOF
        2100    At GOOF deploy fish tow along Sta Cruz

15 Jan  0400    Tow across channel towards CAIN
        0700    tow towards ANIN
        0900    tow towards ANOF
        1100    at ANOF recover fish
        1200    begin ANOF - ANIN CTD transect  
        1300    leave ANMI for BARB
        1600    recover BARB
        1700    steam towards Marfac
        
16 Jan  0800    Arrive Marfac

Equipment: Trawl winch with short section of working wire, A frame, crane,
capstan, CTD winch to run towed ADCP
