Dear Dr Bloomer

We have just received notification from the Kingdom of Tonga that clearance
for Melville to conduct marine scientific research in the Tongan waters
during the period 5 May-6 June, 1996 has been approved by His Majesty's
Cabinet decision on 17 April, 1996.

Tonga has therefore nominated Kelepi Seuli Mafi (Geologist) of the Mineral
Resources Unit of the Ministry of Lands, Survey & Natural Resources to
participate on the cruise.  We believe funding will be the responsibility of
the Oregon State University.
