Casts:
Continued ODF rosette casts whenever the WHOI rosette is not in the water.
Typically 1 deep cast with 12 salts followed by 2-3 shallow casts through
regions with significant structure to be of interest for sensor response
studies. Shallow casts will not have salts taken.
(See Additional Information section)
Equipment Required:
For WHOI test (Slide down the wire rosette):
36 bottles - Bottles do not have to be water-tight, and could be lost
if WHOI rosette has a problem.
For ODF CTD test:
ODF: CTD 1, FSI CTD, plus supporting ODF equipment
1 Sun system, 1 or more PCs
1 AutoSal salinometer
2 flats (20 vials) Wormley Std water
3 boxes (36 ea) salt bottles (NOTE: ALL SALT BOTTLES TO BE CHECKED
INDIVIDUALLY FOR CHIPS & FIT OF INSERTS)
Yellow 36 pl rosette frame with 12 10L bottles

>From res techs: 2 winches with >5000m of 0.322 UNOLS 3-conductor wire to be
provided. The nominal cruise plan is to conduct shallow tests of WHOI rosette,
then steam to deeper water, possibly stopping en route for 1 or more casts,
and carry out tests until time to return. Final location and max depth will
depend on weather situation.
